The Walker Center presents itself as a "catalyst" of artistic creation for an "active" public. The modern, angular building (1971) comprises nine large rooms, to which an extension was added in 2005 (Herzog & de Meuron). There is a new entrance pavilion (2017) with a panoramic terrace on Vineland Place. Pieces from the permanent collection, which is made up essentially of contemporary work (1940s to the present day, all media), are shown in rotation.
