These romantic "lost gardens" cover an area of 80ha; planted by Thomas Gray then abandoned, they have been undergoing restoration work since 1991. They include Flora's Garden (rhododendrons), greenhouses, a Victorian vegetable garden, an orchard, the Jungle (exotic trees planted in the 19C) and the Lost Valley (wildlife and a water meadow).
