Savernake Forest

 Michelin Guide
 Well worth the diversions
Natural site
  The Michelin Guide's review
The stillness of Savernake Forest was once disturbed by the royal hunts, until the famous landscape gardener "Capability" Brown (1715-83) replanted its 1 616ha. Today oak, ash, larch and many beech trees make up a magnificent forest, cut through by the Grand Avenue (4.8km). It is a pleasant place to explore on foot or by bicycle.
