Religious monument
  The Michelin Guide's review
Daitoku-ji is a vast Buddhist complex reminiscent of a miniature village, whose single main temple is surrounded by 22 sub-temples. Each of the temples is encircled by highly symbolic gardens, only four of which are open to the public. The most handsome is Daisen-in Temple, in which you can admire the fusuma painted in the 16C by masters of the art. A little further out is Koto-in Temple, whose intimate garden is planted with graceful maple trees and moss.
