Holkham Hall

Civil and military monument
  The Michelin Guide's review
Residence of the counts of Leicester and Coke of Norfolk (1754-1842), the inventor of modern agriculture, Holkham Hall is a Palladian style palace designed by William Kent. The most imposing room is the marble vestibule, made of polished pink alabaster; a gallery of ionic pink columns spectacularly showcases the neo-Classical sculptures. The reception hall (with works by Nicolas Poussin) and the saloon (works by Rubens and Van Dyck) are almost as majestic.
