The Michelin Guide's review
The first castle constructed on this site is thought to date back to Venceslas I (10C). For several hundred years, the castle passed from royalty to nobility before being finally purchased by the Schwarzenberg family in 1661. Modified innumerable times, it acquired its current handsome appearance in the mid 19C. Its Gothic Tudor style is inspired by Windsor Castle in England. The interior, comprised of 140 opulently decorated and furnished rooms, features family portraits, fine works of art and a handsome weapons collection.
