Heading up Calle Pedro A. Perez past a cuadra north of Parque José Martí running as far as the Prado junction, note the dome of Palacio Salcines, surmounted by a female figure blowing on a trumpet. la Fama ("the famous") became the city's symbol, like the Giraldilla in Havana. In this amazing 1920s palace, the Centro Provincial de Artes Visuales organises art exhibitions (works may be bought).
