 Well worth the diversions
Civil and military monument
  The Michelin Guide's review
This large crenellated castle has belonged to the Ricasoli family since 1141. Its fortifications are thought to be the work of a young Giuliano da Sangallo. It is possible to walk around these in the garden to enjoy the magnificent view of the Val d'Arbia to the south. The castle is home to a small museum displaying the family's fine collection of weapons, as well as the desk and personal items belonging to Bettino Ricasoli (1809-80), the Iron Baron, who succeeded Cavour as Prime Minister.
