The whole world learned how to pronounce a difficult name when Eyjafjöll, a volcano in the southern part of the country, awoke in March 2010 after 187 years of inactivity. The eruption created a plume of smoke that paralysed global air traffic. We may not have heard the last of this mischief-maker.
