The Michelin Guide's review
Founded in the 4C, in 847 Cunault welcomed monks from Noirmoutier. Subsequently it became a rich Benedictine priory. Only the church (11C-13C) remains, its massive tower (11C) topped by a 15C stone steeple. Inside, one cannot fail but be impressed by the characteristic Angevin-style pillars and their 223 finely worked 11C-12C capitals. Note the unusual 13C reliquary of St Maxenceul in coloured walnut.
