The Michelin Guide's review
Named after the botanist David Fairchild, this is one of the largest botanical gardens in the United States. It is laid out across 30ha/75 acres with no fewer than 12 man-made lakes. The garden boasts more than 2 500 species of plants and trees from around the world, arranged in spaces that vary dramatically from narrow alleys to open beds. It also includes a butterfly garden, a palmetum, winter gardens and specialized conservatories and beds for tropical plants.
