City and village
The Michelin Guide's review
Strategically located at the crossroads of five valleys, upper Briançon, perched on a rocky spur at an altitude of 1,326m/4,350ft, is framed by ramparts. It has not lost its authentic charm depicted by colourful houses, steep, narrow streets, Pignerol gate and its fortified church. The rampart walk commands a pretty picture of the town's rooftops.
