A shining example of 17C classicism, the Château de Balleroy, built by François Mansart, is set in romantic 135ha/330 acre-grounds and formal gardens. It paints a majestic and austere picture when viewed from the perspective of the village's main street. The lovely interior was restored and refurnished by its owner Malcolm Forbes. The stables house the fascinating Musée des Ballons (Balloon Museum).
