The Michelin Guide's review
Opened in 1936, this road goes through one of the country's most infertile regions. Several summits rise to between 1 500m and 1 800m, the highest being Trolltinden (2 018m), to the east. Just before heading down into the deep valley on the other face, a path to the right leads to a terrace hewn out of the rock, which commands a fantastic view. On the way down, you come to two impressive waterfalls; a bridge spans Stigfos, which tumbles down from a height of around 180m.
