Alloway is the birthplace of poet Robert Burns (1759-1796). The museum has a well-stocked collection of manuscripts, letters, documents and other Burns memorabilia. A path dotted with sculptures leads to the cottage where the poet was born. The stable and house's two rooms give an idea of the spartan living conditions of the 18C.
