At a height of nearly 3,000m/9,842ft, Le Dévoluy is a striking sight. According to legend, the peaks of Obiou, Grand Ferrand, Bure pic and Le Feraud hurled rocks at each other, thus forming this wild and isolated range. The passes route to the Noyer Pass traverses an arid, sunburnt landscape. Lake Sautet is encircled by a magnificent road dominating the lake and this unspoiled valley has a fair sprinkling of villages and ski resorts.
