The Michelin Guide's review
Situated just off the Cambodian coast in the Gulf of Thailand, Vietnam's largest island (585km2) is dotted with a chain of wooded hills which reach an altitude of 360m at their highest point. Measuring 45km from north to south, Phu Quoc was once a real paradise of idyllic beaches and virgin forests, but the island has suffered recently from the hordes of tourists who now come here. A word of advice: if you want to visit, come before the island turns into a Vietnamese Phuket.
