The Michelin Guide's review
The tip of the Guajira Peninsula marks the northern endpoint of the South American continent. A few minutes' walk takes you to a calm bay whose deep blue waters are occasionally tinted with green. Once at Punta Gallinas, set off by boat to see the flamingos on the little islets and then continue around the islands before heading for the beach of Bahía Hondita, frequented by shrimp fishermen at work. At Punta Taroa, immense dunes plunge into the ocean.
