The Michelin Guide's review
The Alter Jüdische Friedhof, the oldest Jewish cemetery in Berlin (1672) destroyed in 1943 by order of the Gestapo, once lay at the end of this road. A stele was erected in 1990 in memory of philosopher Moses Mendelssohn. Nearby the sculpture devoted to the "Jewish victims of fascism" reminds visitors that the former hospice was a transit camp prior to deportation. On the pavement opposite at N°15, Christian Boltanski's Missing House contributes to Berlin's desire to remember the past.
