Asian Influences
The Michelin Guide's review
The Fuchs family has been running Spielweg with great dedication since 1861 and the sixth generation is now at the helm. The original building was first documented in 1705, and today it is a truly cosy setting. In a charming dining area done out in Black Forest style, diners are treated to very cordial service from an attentive team. The ambitious cuisine is packed with flavour, and dishes range from classic to regional. Chef-owner Viktoria Fuchs's passion for Asian cuisine is also often incorporated into the menu. Alongside signatures such as wild boar dim sum, there are wonderful seasonal dishes – for instance, the "Chef's pan-fried game black pudding with venison hearts and venison offal, mashed potatoes, fresh spinach and horseradish". The lunchtime menu proposes somewhat simpler fare, making this place an ideal stop-off for a light meal during a hike. The individually furnished guestrooms are well maintained.
