The Michelin Guide's review
What happens when you blend Texas barbecue with Vietnamese cooking? Just ask Don and Theo Nguyen, the brothers behind Khói Barbecue. The two kicked off with a series of pop-ups, but now offer weekend service (only) in this backyard space where you order at the tent, grab a beverage and find a picnic table in the shaded area (pro tip: sit in the back to watch them work their magic). Everything happens outside using their vintage smoker nicknamed Sunday Morning after the Velvet Underground song. Khói, which means "smoke" in Vietnamese, delivers something entirely different. Think smoked and fried chicken that's glazed in a caramelized nước mắm (fish sauce). Beef rib in a coconut curry jockeys for attention alongside brisket and dino rib by the pound.
