The Michelin Guide's review
In a beautiful, still-central location steps from Brignole – the city’s second train station – with ample paid parking, San Giorgio is the place to be in Genoa: elegant and classic, with solid quality ensured by a patron from a family well known in the city’s restaurant scene, who has guided it throughout and also manages other venues in Genoa. The culinary offering follows a Mediterranean line which, despite contemporary presentation and the considered use of modern techniques, expresses a strong Ligurian identity: savoury, fragrant and full of character. Ancient traditions return, as in the “Lettuce stuffed with meat in cockerel broth”, alongside more personal creations, among them the “Pearls of Genoa... our gnocchi with pesto”. The wine list is notably above average, internationally awarded, and includes an entire volume dedicated to Italian and, above all, French sparkling wines.
