This charming restaurant in the Agnesviertel has long been an institution in Cologne, serving ambitious, contemporary takes on Austrian cuisine alongside excellent wines from the Alpine republic, all in an inviting, stylish setting. In the evening, diners can choose from three set menus – "Die Moderne", "Die Tradition" and "Die grünen Alpen" – or opt for the surprise menu. At lunchtime, there is a choice of set menus, or dishes can be ordered à la carte. Naturally, classics such as Wiener schnitzel and Tafelspitz (beef simmered in broth) are also available. Always on hand, the front-of-house team is attentive and professional. In fine weather, the lovely terrace comes into its own.
