Day 1: Belfast

In the morning, visit the university district, where most of the B&Bs and bars and restaurants are located, the Botanic Gardens and Queen’s University.
Take the time to explore the Titanic Belfast attraction on the docks.
At the end of the day, stroll around the city centre (Donegall Square, town hall and Saint Anne’s Cathedral) and dine on Great Victoria Street.
Stay overnight (see accommodation in Belfast).
Tip: avoid Belfast and the area during the Orange parades (around 12 July): most of the museums, tourist attractions, hotels and restaurants are closed.

Day 2: Giant’s Causeway

Head towards Carrickfergus and its castle, then towards the Giant’s Causeway for an invigorating breath of fresh air and knock-out scenery! Energetic walkers may fancy tackling the 8km-long Causeway Coast Way.
Continue on to Coleraine to spend the night (see accommodation in Coleraine).

Day 3: Coleraine

Don’t miss Dunluce Castle, or the seaside resorts of Portrush and Portstewart, which are very busy in summertime and rich in restaurants, as well as being paradise or hell for golfers (depending on the weather).
Next pay a visit to the Bushmills distillery which finishes with a tasting session.
Before heading to Derry, stop off at Mussenden Temple, an elegant adaptation of Tivoli’s Temple of Vesta, perched precariously on the edge of the cliffs and commanding a splendid view of the sandy beach very popular with surfers.
Stay overnight in Derry (see accommodation in Derry).

Day 4: Derry

Derry (formerly Londonderry), the second largest city of Northern Ireland, is a delightful tourist town in the midst of a revival. Sights include Peace Bridge (symbol of peace and reconciliation), the Anglican Gothic St Columb’s Cathedral and the ramparts, which embody both the city’s rich past and its joyful determination to work for the future.
Stay overnight in Derry (see accommodation in Derry).

Day 5: Back to Belfast

On the road to Belfast, stop at Dungiven Priory, an old Augustinian abbey, steeped in poetry.
At Magherafelt, take a slight detour towards Bellaghy and visit Seamus Heaney HomePlace, an art centre devoted to the Irish poet or continue on to Lough Neagh Discovery Centre on the banks of Lake Neagh, the largest lake of the British Isles.
Belfast is not far away…
