Over the years, CES has seen a growing focus on cars, with an impressive number of vehicle manufacturers and equipment providers now in attendance. This year proved no exception. Here are four standout vehicles spotted at the 2023 edition of the show.

Afeela… good !

Sony and Honda have now joined forces in the field of electric cars. After unveiling their new entity in 2022, named Sony Honda Mobility, they were at CES 2023 to present their very first 100% electric brand: Afeela. While waiting for a first production model, not expected before 2025, a prototype was unveiled. It is a sedan with a sleek design, equipped with two motors with a total power of 400 kW. The car also has level 3 autonomous driving, which means that the driver would be able to let go of the steering wheel and take their eyes off the road in certain circumstances. This prototype also stands out with its illuminated strip on the front grille, a “bar” that can be used to communicate with other road users or to show the battery charge level. While Honda brings all its mechanical expertise to the project, Sony provides its experience in terms of software and entertainment.

The pickup of the future

In the United States, the pickup truck is king. So, among the concepts on display in Las Vegas, it’s no surprise to find an impressive and eye-catching pickup truck from Ram Trucks, part of the Stellantis Group. The Ram 1500 Revolution BEV is an all-electric vehicle with two motors and four-wheel drive. On paper, this concept has a range of 160 km for just 10 minutes of charging at a fast-charging station. As its name suggests, this is a particularly “revolutionary” vehicle, innovating both in its exterior design and in its spacious interior, which can even accommodate a work space through a removable center console with a flat folding surface. If needed, it even offers a third row of folding seats in the back.

Inception

The French brand Peugeot has also caused a sensation with its Inception concept, representing its vision of the car of the future. Nearly 5 meters long, and with dramatically designed lights, this imposing concept has everything to please on paper, with 500 kW of power and range announced at 800 km. It remains to be seen whether this coupé will soon give rise to a production version as striking as this one.

Colors to suit your mood

Finally, BMW has made a splash with the i Vision Dee, a concept that offers a 32-color palette for a constantly changing and personalized exterior, in partnership with the Taiwanese company E Ink. This project is an extension of the BMW iX Flow concept, presented just a year ago, and which proposed changing the color of the car’s bodywork with the simple press of a button. Here, the concept is considerably enhanced, with the possibility to change the color of 240 different zones, from the grille to the rear of the car, including the wheels and even the windows. Note that the head-up display here extends across the entire width of the windshield, an innovation that is expected to be offered on some production models by 2025.
