Oxmantown Mall leads from the gates of the castle, between two rows of elegant Georgian houses with an avenue of mature trees, to the church of St Brendan (19C). Built in 1888, Oxmantown Hall is decorated with sculptured wooden gables and heraldic beasts. It is now a theatre. In the town centre, Emmet Square is also made up of Georgian houses, the most remarkable being Dooly's Hotel.
