Built from Arrabida marble in 1491, the Igreja de Jesus was designed by Boytac. The church is the first example of Manueline art. Its walls are partly covered in azulejos from the 17C. The Museu de Setúbal is housed in the convent. Its gallery devoted to 15C art contains a large collection of primitive Portuguese paintings (15C-16C), all of which are by an unknown artist referred to as the "Master of the Setúbal Altarpiece".
