Description
Not far from Hohenschwangau Castle, Ludwig II of Bavaria ordered the construction of this fairy-tale palace. Perched on a rocky ridge overlooking the Pöllat gorge, the sheer drama of Neuschwanstein Castle leaves all who see it spellbound. The flamboyantly ornate interior gives the impression of stepping into a dream world. Note particularly the third floor, which contains a facsimile grotto, a winter garden, the unfinished Throne Room and the Minstrels' Room.
