Description
The vast Plaza de Colón is lined by the Jardines del Descubrimiento ("Gardens of Discovery"). A huge Spanish flag flies over this large, convivial esplanade, where retirees taking the sun on the benches rub shoulders with young mums and teenagers on skateboards. Along the Calle de Serrano is the Monumento al Descubrimiento de América (Monument to the Discovery of America), a massive, engraved wall alongside a small pool.
