Useful information

Description

Of imposing dimensions, Westminser Hall was the largest of its kind (unsupported by columns) in the world. Its magnificent oak-beamed ceiling was constructed between 1394 and 1402 at Richard II's behest. It was initially used for gatherings of parliament and court hearings (important legislative proceedings continued here until 1822), and some of the nation's greatest events took place here. At each end are nine windows in the Perpendicular style.
