Description
Inaugurated in 1873, this triumphal arch completes the perspective of the rua Augusta and looks onto the Praça do Comércio. A lift takes you up to see the mechanism of the clock in the Clock Room. A staircase leads to the terrace, which is dominated by the statue of Glory rewarding Genius and Valour (by Frenchman Celestine-Anatole Calmels). There is a 360° view of the Baixa and the river.
