Siege Museum
The Green Guide

Useful information

Description

Ladysmith Town Hall is guarded by "Castor and Pollux", two cannons sent from Cape Town to defend the town. Next-door, Siege Museum, located in a former market, stands a replica of "Long Tom", the long-range cannon forged at Le Creusot in France with which the Boers bombarded Ladysmith. The museum gives a fascinating, very lively and detailed account of conditions in the town during the siege, using models and wax figures.
