Description
The current university occupies the old Jesuit university, the Italian Renaissance-style courtyard (16C) of which is a must-see. The buildings are arranged around the general Studies cloister, a graceful courtyard surrounded by a gallery of arcades illustrating the Royal University and the Papal University. The classrooms which open onto the galleries are decorated with 18C azulejos depicting subjects relating to the disciplines taught.
