guided tour of abbey in German daily except Sun and Bank Hols - meeting point at visitor centre at 2pm
Built from 1719 to 1735 in the "Voralberg" baroque style, the abbey church of Einsiedeln is the most remarkable building of its kind in Switzerland. Two high towers flank the elegant façade. The interior is surprisingly generously proportioned and lavishly decorated. This major pilgrimage centre contains a statue of Notre-Dame-des-Ermites, which stands inside the Sainte-Chapelle.
