Dek Tu
The Green Guide

Useful information

Description

Nestled along a mountain stream, Dek Tu is home to a superb communal house with a raised thatched roof, flanked by a traditional pole used in the ritual sacrifice of buffalos. The highlight of the village is however its astonishing cemetery, where the Ba Na tombs resemble small houses covered with sheet metal and bamboo and adorned with flowers. A ladder enabled the soul of the deceased to access the land of his/her ancestors. The Ba Na is the largest minority group in the High Plateau region.
