Description
Situated at the bottom of a green valley, the monastery of Batalha (derived from "battle") was built in the 15 and 16C. It is a masterpiece of Gothic and Manueline art with Unesco World Heritage site status. From the outside the building is like a bouquet of pink and golden flowers, covered in gables, pinnacles, buttresses, little steeples and small columns. The interior justifies a visit in its own right.
