Even if the food was ho-hum (and it most certainly isn’t), Equus is well worth the excursion, especially for their beloved Sunday brunch. Tucked into the fairytale grounds of Tarrytown’s Castle & Spa Hotel, and surrounded by dramatic stone walls, lush gardens and views of the Hudson, it’s no surprise this restaurant is a popular pick for receptions, so do call ahead. Inside, you’ll find three elegant dining spaces offering contemporary French food; a polished waitstaff; as well as a scarf- and sport coat-donning clientele. Dinner might kick off with matcha-dusted ahi tuna with bright watermelon, avocado and sugar snap peas; and then move on to a juicy local heritage pork chop, paired with ripe stone fruit, sautéed sweet corn and fresh arugula.
