Though a nice selection of European vintages is a boon to this charming wine-centric bistro housed in a quiet corner of the Mission, the delicate and seasonal food keeps it bustling. Fresh and elegant Mediterranean-leaning dishes are pure expressions of California's bounty, especially the crunchy salad of Mutsu apples, Treviso, arugula, and toasted walnuts. Also try the crisp-skinned Hoffman chicken breast with roasted carrot hummus and salad of cucumber, avocado, onion, and feta. Simple desserts display a gentle touch. At the very least, indulge in a warm cookie, soft and golden brown, oozing with melting chocolate chips. The dining room features communal tables, a marble counter with a close-up view of the open kitchen, warm candlelight, and even warmer service.
