Useful information

A celebrity in his native Vietnam, Chef/owner Khai Duong has chosen to settle down in a strip mall near the Design District, where he offers a ten-course tasting menu with two nightly seatings. The petite dining room is a bit eccentric, with its daytime takeaway counter mostly obscured by curtains. Still, you’ll get a lot of face time with the chef, who’s an active presence and a great character.

Trained in France, Duong offers beautifully crafted updates on classic Vietnamese dishes, from vermicelli with shredded omelet and pork belly to Hanoi’s famous cha ca thang long—turmeric-marinated fish with dill and scallions. Other highlights include rich matsutake mushroom pâté, and for dessert, slippery coconut noodles with durian paste and coconut cream.
