After making a splash with casual Middle Eastern café Reem’s, Chef Reem Assil has gone upscale with this big outpost in Jack London Square, a partnership with Daniel Patterson’s Alta Group. "Dyafa" is Arabic for "hospitality," and you'll find plenty of it here, with outstanding service, stunning views of the marina and an array of tempting family-style platters, including braised lamb shanks with garlic yogurt and almonds. Light and fluffy flatbreads are Assil's specialty, and you'll want plenty of her pita to scoop up the delectable dip sampler of creamy hummus, vibrant muhammara and rich labneh. Equally unmissable: the freshly made mana'eesh, which cradles charred and juicy chicken kebabs topped with garlic aïoli and pickled turnips.
