In fact, the restaurant’s thriving success led to an expansion that includes a cocktail lounge and bakery next door. Bar seating around the open kitchen gives a bird’s-eye view of the mélange of ingredients used in each dish, though servers are happy to walk any guest through the intoxicating mashup of Portuguese-meets-Asian cuisine. Sharing is recommended for the namesake arroz gordo, a paella-esque blend of meat, shellfish and pickles. Pillowy bread pairs well with crisp chili prawns stuffed with a flavorful blend of fermented black beans and garlic; while chrysanthemum gelée served with jackfruit and peanuts is a sweet and salty thrill.
