You’ll know your meal is fresh at this Peninsula palace of seafood, where flat-screen TVs showcase the bevy of crustaceans in their huge seawater-holding tanks. Set in an industrial warehouse, NELC is both a fish market and a counter-service restaurant—complete with a nautical theme, picnic tables indoors and out and a happy crowd of young and old diners donning lobster bibs. Kick things off with the justifiably beloved lobster-corn chowder, thick with sweet, succulent meat in a rich and creamy-but not overly heavy-stock. (For dedicated fans, frozen to-go quarts are offered.) Then go for broke with the outstanding lobster roll, lightly dressed with mayo on a fluffy, buttery roll and accompanied by excellent house-made potato chips.
