The Michelin Guide's review
With its outer fortifications dominated by five towers, a moat and a tower-gate with a drawbridge, this was a typical example of a fortress after it was fortified in the 14C. It served as a residence in the 15C and 16C and was converted into a farm in the 17C by Maréchal de Villars, who owned Vaux-le-Vicomte. Today, it is possible to stroll through the interior and along the ramparts of this magnificently restored fortress. From the top of the 35m-high keep (140 steps), enjoy a fine view over the Brie plain.
