These car and motorcycle manufacturers are adding electric bicycles to their portfolio
The Japanese giant, already involved in the construction of engines for other brands, is now launching its own range of electric bicycles or e-bikes. In the United States, there will be two models — an ‘adventure’ model and a ‘commuter’ model, set to be available this summer.
Yamaha is getting on board a trend that is already well on its way. A growing number of motorcycle manufacturers have already released their first e-bikes, such as BMW, Kawasaki, Ducati and even Harley-Davidson!
And it’s a similar trend for car manufacturers. Historically, many of them have already offered bicycles in the past, with varying degrees of success. However, the rise of electric models is reviving this trend like never before. Among the manufacturers that have already taken the plunge are Mercedes, Peugeot and, most recently, Porsche. Some, like Seat, Mercedes and even Lamborghini, are even producing electric scooters.
