Check your tyres before setting off on holiday

Are your tyres worn or incorrectly inflated? Tyre condition is a major safety factor that is sadly too often neglected by motorists before they head off on holiday.

Before hitting the holiday road, two out of ten motorists fail to check tyre wear and thus increase their risk of accidents. On the tyre pressure front, while nine out of ten drivers do check their tyres, 10% still skip this essential safety step.

Worn tyres and even more importantly, incorrectly inflated tyres, cause accidents and multiple collisions. It is therefore essential to check your vehicle’s tyre pressure regularly, at least once a month and without fail before any long trip. As more than 60% of motorists drive over 500km to reach their holiday destination, you should check tyre pressure not only before you leave on holiday, but again before you head home.

Don’t forget to check the tyres of caravans, trailers and spare wheels, because, even if they aren’t used very often, they can also become underinflated or damaged.
