We were given the last available table following an impulse booking 4 hours before service by a very helpful receptionist who confirmed it would be no problem were we to arrive slightly late.The food delivered throughout the evening matched and often exceeded the high expectations we have of a restaurant holding a michelin star. The particular highlight being the dessert of poached pear, roqfort mouse, pear sorbet and white chocolate.

Sadly, the service throughout the evening failed to match the food, setting or price charged. There was no one event that stood out during the evening however the entire front of house team, with the exception of the sommelier, had a careless air that was out of place in a michelin establishment. Quite simply, the standard of service failed to make the diner feel as if they were special and something to be expected in a restaurant in this league.Did I enjoy my food? A resounding yes. Would I return? No. I paid £220 for two and expect a better experience. I know there are many restaurants providing this within the price range and will go there.A shame. The Chef is clearly trying very hard but the front of house let him down.

Squeezed in for late lunch at an oasis within a barren part of an increasingly epicurean country. Pleasant golfing spot with most spectacular grounds. Dishes got progressively better with the ultimate lip-smacker being plum tart with praline ice cream, nicely balanced in all respects. Good value.

Shame that good quality tuna and brown shrimps were overpowered by dressings, one creamy plus an oil overdose on delicate salad leaves.
