The setting is very impressive - the very high ceiling might have made the space intimidating, but good use of lighting and layout makes it comfortable. The staff were attentive and friendly; service was formal but not stuffy. The food, as one would expect in a 1* restaurant, was excellent. I had one of the best pork belly dishes I've ever eaten, and the starter and deserts (especially the tarte tatin) were just as good. This was the best meal we've had in London for some time.
The prices are high, as I would expect for fine dining. However, the cost of our pre-dinner drinks was excessive - £6.75 for a G&T and £9.50 for a Kahlua & coke. These are simple mixed drinks, not cocktails, and there is no artistry in their preparation or presentation.
