The Rose petals were nice.
We were seated at a table that I, as a man of 6'1" barely fit into; as I struggled to sit, the server laughed. The table was so unsteady that I had to keep both of my feet on the base to steady it throughout the meal; when ed, the staff shrugged and ignored me. We ordered two apps.: Shrimp wrapped in Katafiya crispy (when I asked the server to translate he just repeated Katafiya and said yes), with avocado, it was decent but bland, and a chicken in warka, which was decent but over baked. As we ate a group of staff members, including what appeared to be a manager, stood 15 feet from us, joking around as they looked in our direction making for a very uncomfortable experience. Then, the main course came. We ordered the Meshwi, slow cooked lamb shoulder with cinnamon couscous; a specialty of the house. The lamb was properly tender, but completely lacking in flavor. No spices were used, it wasn't even properly salted and the dried fruit weren't even cooked with the meat just placed around the outside of the dish. The cinnamon couscous was regular, water cooked couscous dusted with cinnamon; not actually cooked with cinnamon. We ate, perhaps a third of it, just to satisfy our hunger, not out of joy, and our plates were cleared without a question about the food being satisfactory. A truly dreadful experience. At 20 quid anyone would be disappointed, our bill, for two apps, two beers and a lamb shoulder ran nearly 100 Pounds.
