The startes were very good. The risotto was very creamy and tasty although we could have done without the Jerusalem artichoke. The crab cakes with aioli was very tasty indeed. The early evening menu was very affordable (£45 total for two including a glass of wine].
The main courses were dissapointing. The mussels and chips were okay but not noteworthy, while the white truffle mayonaise did not taste special. The gnocchi with asparagus and parmesan was too salty ruining the flavour of the asparagus. The coconut pannacotta was nice but trio of icecream dissapointing. The service was impersonal. All in all we did not think this was worth a bib gourmand label and in spite of the low price we would not come back if there was not a marked improvement.

Really enjoyed our meal. Lovely tastes - couldn't fault it. I had hake with peppers and potatoes which was cooked perfectly and tasted wonderful. My husband had rack of lamb also cooked perfectly - very tender. The pudding was delicious - dark chocolate truffle infused with star anise and ice cream infused with fennel - great combination and very subtle flavours. We had a glass of Brown Brothers Moscato which really complimented the desert. A real gem in the centre of St Ives. Some dramatic art on the walls too.
We felt the tables were a little shabby for the rest of the surroundings. That's about all.
