The service can be halting, the halogen lighting is brutal, and the blaring Russian music videos don't exactly scream date-night. But this boisterous Rego Park restaurant's inconveniences fade when the dining room's open grill lights up-crackling and sizzling with juicy kebabs-and gorgeous plates of food start flying out of the kitchen (sometimes all at once). On cold nights, nothing placates like a bowl of their chicken soup with pelmeni. Their unique take on kosher food, which caters to the local Bukharan Jewish population, emphasizes roasted meat and hearty, comforting dishes. Every single part of a lamb that can be cooked can be found on the menu (ribs, fat, etc). For a unique ending, try the chak chak —Chinese noodles bound with honey and aromatics.
